The area gives emphasis to questioning preconceived notions of the role of art in culture and its relationship to a specific form or medium.”WHAT IS DIGITAL MEDIA?Digital media generally plays an important role in both, art education and art therapy. Natalie Carlton defines digital media as “any type of storage, transmission, or product in digital format including hard drives, networking or communication modes, and computer-generated text, graphics, animations, photographs, sound files, and video used in many types of art forms such as theatre, music, graphic design and writing, visual arts, and dance.” (1)Digital media has inherent documented qualities not found in traditional materials. Carlton points to playback and immediacy, emotional distancing, and elements of pause, movability, mobility, and re-presentation being the main aspects of new technologies that she recognizes in her research on digital media in art therapy.“Immediacy of playback and pause, gives participants an instant sense of satisfaction, allowing them time for self-reflection and exploration.” Immediacy of playback and pause, gives participants an instant sense of satisfaction, allowing them time for self-reflection and exploration. It heightens the sense of control over the created imagery as well as one’s emotional state. Emotional distancing of digital media “supports the containment of affect and impulse control for clients”. Through reviewing the material, making instant changes and corrections, participants have an ability “to change their stories for empowerment and trauma resolution goals”.Movability is a quality of digital media that refers to one’s ability to watch his or her recorded physical movement and experience the sensations of those movements, sounds and interactions” from an objective perspective of a viewer. It allows for self-reflection and detailed analysis of all layered multi-sensory components of the recording. Mobility of the digital media refers both, to tools and equipment being easily transportable and to accessibility to sharing of the creative products, which in turn, can give certain participants a sense of inclusivity (especially individuals, who might not otherwise benefit from the traditional forms of art therapy because of disabilities, illness, or physical limitations (2)). Carlton defines re-presentation as a “media quality where digital media has become a vital part of documentation and saving of artworks from analogue to digital formats to save, submit, or show later”. It is a digital diary—a timeline representation of visual content. It is also a quality of expressing one’s interpretation of both outer world and internal thoughts and feelings.Carlton, N. R. Evolve Dance Company started as a dream of Artistic Director, Jenny Vause, and became a reality in June of 2005. Since opening, Evolve continues to provide quality instruction to dancers in Rockford and the surrounding areas. Evolve is located in the Brynwood Square Shopping Center, near the corner of Spring Creek and Mulford Roads. Jenny has been teaching and choreographing for twenty years, and our experienced, enthusiastic teachers provide dancers of all levels the terminology and technique needed to ”evolve” into the best dancer possible. College of Medicine Since 1972, the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford has focused on developing an optimal learning environment for training healthcare professionals, conducting innovative research and improving the health and wellness of our society. Academic programs include Doctor of Medicine, Rural Medical Education Program, Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology, Family Medicine Residency and Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship. Patients can get university-level family health care at the L.P. Johnson Family Health Center on State Street in Rockford and at the UI Health Rochelle Family Health Center. College of Nursing The UIC College of Nursing Rockford Regional Program opened in 1992. The nursing regional site offers access to a wide variety of graduate programs in diverse specialties. In addition to several master’s programs, the program offers the Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Classes are offered in a variety of formats – in person, videoconference and online. Clinical experiences are arranged and supervised by faculty at a variety of sites in and around the Rockford area. College of Pharmacy In a direct response to the continuing shortage of pharmacists in Illinois, the College of Pharmacy created its Rockford regional program. The first class of students was admitted in 2010 and will complete all four years of pharmacy education on the Rockford campus and at clerkship sites throughout the state. Students in the Rockford program will complete all of the same coursework as students on the Chicago campus. Select students from rural backgrounds will be admitted to the rural pharmacy (RPharm) program, training with medical students from the College of Medicine at Rockford Rural Medical Education (RMED) program.

Pampered Pet offers a complete line of fine grooming services to bring out the best of appearance and personality in any breed. We work carefully, never rush, and do not overbook appointments. We always take our time and do it right. Kibble Korner was started in 2011 to help people in our community keep their pets. It is inside the Rock River Valley Food Pantry and accepts donations of dog and cat food and cat litter. It was started as a temporary pantry but the need is so great in our area that is needing more food than we can keep up with. We now have a website: kibblekorner.com, a Facebook page, and e-mail kibblekorner@gmail.com. You can donate directly to the pantry, through PayPal or send it to: Kibble Korner P.O. Box 10331, Loves Park, IL. 61131. We are now going throught about 2,000 pounds of food a month which cost about $500 a month and we are running out of money. There are several drop of location throughout Winnebago County and they are all listed on the website, if someone needs help by getting food from Kibble Korner the applications are also on the website. Pampered Pet had an idea last year to start a Pet Supply Resale Shop and the proceeds go to Kibble Korner. We accept any donation of new or gently used pet items. We will take small pet carriers, collars and leashes, coats and sweaters, toys, bowls, any cat items. $5.00 can keep a family pet in their home for a month instead of making them turn their pet into a shelter or rescue so every little bit helps.

Our adoption qualifications are that everyone in the household must come in and meet the animal. If you are looking at a dog and already have one, then we must have a dog meeting to make sure they get along. If you rent then we need a copy of your lease stating that you can have a pet and any size/breed restrictions. If there is a pet deposit then that needs to be paid prior to picking up your new pet and we will need to have a copy of that also. The adoption fee is $175 for dogs that are 7 months and older. Adoption fee is $275 for puppies 7 months and younger. Kitten adoptions are $85, cats over 7 months old are $40. All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots for their age, and will have a rabies vaccination if they are older than 4 months.

This type of competition events requires that you hold a valid competition license from Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs (http://mcscc.org ) or another recognized sanctioning body. The Wheel-to-Wheel sports car racing Championship Series has been the foundation for the Midwestern Councils racing program for over 50 years. The series features 10-12 race events per year held at the different tracks that Midwestern Council visits.Competition cars based on mass-produced street vehicles (Honda Civics to Corvettes) compete in four categories that include:Showroom Stock: Equally prepared street vehicles with virtually no modifications other then those required for safety.Improved Touring: Similar street prepared cars with performance improvements, while maintaining suitability for street use.Production and GT: These classes allow added levels of performance improvements to increase power and chassis dynamics.Formula and Sports Racer: There are several classes for single-seat, purpose built race cars, as well as classes for both single and dual seat sports racers.Vintage / Historic: The goal of the Vintage historic Racing program is to provide a fun, safe venue for enjoyment of racing cars built and prepared to pre-1975 levels, and for driver that favor the thrill of a skillful drive and good competition.Careful stewarding is emphasized in this racing series, following the basic rules for complete car control throughout the event. Metal to metal contact is never acceptable and we use the 13-13 rule used by other Vintage Racing sanctioning bodies. Vintage/historic cars race in their own race group.
