In the spring of 2012, the Seventh Street Coffee, Inc. not-for-profit was formed for the purpose of purchasing Katie’s Cup from ZION Development. The transaction was completed on July 2, 2012 and now operates with both volunteers and paid staff.WHO IS KATIE? Katie's Cup is named after Katharina Luther, the wife of Martin Luther –the famous Protestant Reformer. The “Women’s Suffrage Centennial 2020 Northern Illinois Celebration” or “WSC2020 Celebration” seeks to mark the 100th Anniversary of women receiving the vote by encouraging women’s groups and civic organizations in northern Illinois to present a wide range of educational and artistic events, displays and exhibits from January 2020, each month through the end of December 2020.The Steering Committee for the WSC2020 Celebration is made up of representatives from a number of local organizations including AAUW Rockford Area Branch, Rockford NSDAR, WNIJ, Womanspace, LWVGR, NAACP, Women’s March Rockford, WTVO and the Rockford Public Library. In addition to a WSC2020 Calendar of Events, the WSC2020 Celebration Steering Committee is spearheading two main goals. A special highlight will be a celebratory community party to be held in Rockford, IL called “Sippin’ with Suffragists” on August 18, 2020. This day marks 100 years to the day of the actual date of ratification.An even more ambitious goal is the creation of a permanent art installation within the city to honor the women who strove over seven decades to achieve women’s suffrage. Details will be announced on October 30th at the official WSC2020 Celebration press conference.Questions of the Steering Committee may be addressed by contacting WSC2020IL@gmail.com.

Our Northern Illinois chapter is a friendly mix of couples and singles of all levels, from beginner to competitor. The general public is warmly invited to attend all of our events. 4th Saturday Ballroom Dance in Belvidere – every fourth Saturday of the month we hold a dance at the beautiful Community Building Complex of Boone County (Belvidere Community Center), 111 W. 1st St, Belvidere, IL. We start with a one hour lesson at 7:00, general dancing begins at 8:00. Mixers and exhibitions take place throughout the evening. (Note - the date will be moved if the 4th Saturday falls on Christmas Eve/Day. Also - the 4th Saturday of the month is not always the last Saturday of the month!) 2nd Saturday Ballroom Dance in Rockford – on the second Saturday of the month, September through November, and January through May in Rockford. 2nd Saturday dances are held at the Arthur Murray Studio, 7326 N. For 56 years, the Natural Land Institute has helped residents of northern Illinois conserve the land they cherish. We are one of the oldest private conservation groups in the Midwest. We are a member supported, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving land and natural diversity for future generations. Since 1958, NLI has protected, managed, and restored more than 16,000 acres throughout Illinois and southern Wisconsin. These include prairies, forests, wetlands, and river corridors. From this meeting, the concept of the Rockford Network of Professional Women (RNPW) evolved. Those four women were Mildred Berry, Barbara Chapman, Marcella Harris, and Jeanine Wortmann. Weekly organizational meetings were held with attendance increasing steadily. Standing rules were formulated and the Rockford Network of Professional Women became official in June 1981.
