Our unique programming includes summer camps for ages 6-18, challenge courses, and a Confirmation Retreat. In October, Stronghold hosts the annual Olde English Faire. Filled with original furnishings, artwork, diaries, clothing and household items, the Cottage is a rich time capsule of life during the Victorian Era. The Cottage is also one of only a handful of Swiss-style homes remaining in the United States and is located in the heart of Rockford, Illinois. The museum complex contains the historic house museum, barn, and carriage house from the Tinker family. In addition, the property is the home of the founding site of Rockford and contains a pre-Columbian conical mound. Please note our guided tours are held at 1:00pm and 3:00pm

Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center offers an exciting range of live musical performances, a vibrant and growing Youth Music Program, and numerous musical performance and education opportunities for adults. The Mendelssohn PAC campus includes Mendelssohn Hall (406 N. Main St.) Emerson House (420 N. Main St.), and Starr Center (415 N. Church St.) Our administrative offices are located in Mendelssohn Hall. We offer an annual Mainstage Concert Series of live performances by local, national, and international guest artists, and our Charlotte's Web Series which features a variety of music from different cultures around the world. Our Music On Main concerts are brief and intimate after-work performances by local and regional musicians. We also have a Jazz at Starr Center Series of Sunday afternoon concerts, strictly devoted to jazz! Our Youth Music Program includes concerts, recitals, outreaches, master classes, workshops, and the Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Competition. We also have several programs for adult musicians, including Art Song Project and Piano Performance Group. Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is a community-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create opportunities for individuals with barriers to enhance their lives. Goodwill funds job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs by selling donated clothing and household items in its 12 retail stores located in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. In 2019, Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois served 26,273 people in the communities in which we reside. Honoring the Veterans of Winnebago County Since 1903. Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum is a living memorial to Veterans from all wars. It will serve as a constant reminder to the sacrifices given by brave men and women from Winnebago County and a way for generations to remember and learn about their lives. Open Tuesday through Friday from 9-4. Historic docent led tours on Tuesdays at 11 am and Wednesday at 1 pm.Weekends and group tours by appointment. Rentals available. This Memorial Hall, one of the first of it's kind in the state of Illinois to be dedicated to our veterans of all wars, was completed in the year 1903. The doors opened with the dedication ceremonies on June third of that year by our twenty - sixth president Theodore Roosevelt with these words: "No more fitting memorial could be erected to the men who fought, than a hall such as this..... a hall beautiful because of the uses to which it is consecrated" - Teddy Roosevelt 1903.

Winnebago County CASA is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization that advocates for abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system. Our trained volunteers are appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of children in the abuse and neglect court. Our obligation is to ensure that the children we represent will be visited at least monthly, and that their needs, desires and circumstances will be reported to the court at every scheduled hearing. The Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem (CASA/GAL) will be the consistent person in the child’s life.

Dog Paddle Beach is a canine swimming facility. It is a 21' round swimming pool which is inside so we swim all year round. The heated pool is 54" deep and the 90 degree water provides a relaxing comfortable environment. There is a self serve wash and dry station to use after swimming. Swimming is an excellent non-weight bearing, cardio exercise. Swimming is good for any dog who has just had ACL surgery, chronic arthritis, degenerative myelopathy, needs to loose weight, has too much energy, or just wants to have fun.
