Welcome to our page! We are the Northern Illinois chapter of USA Dance (chapter #2039). Our Northern Illinois chapter is a friendly mix of couples and singles of all levels, from beginner to competitor. The general public is warmly invited to attend all of our events. 4th Saturday Ballroom Dance in Belvidere – every fourth Saturday of the month we hold a dance at the beautiful Community Building Complex of Boone County (Belvidere Community Center), 111 W. 1st St, Belvidere, IL. We start with a one hour lesson at 7:00, general dancing begins at 8:00. Mixers and exhibitions take place throughout the evening. (Note - the date will be moved if the 4th Saturday falls on Christmas Eve/Day. Also - the 4th Saturday of the month is not always the last Saturday of the month!) 2nd Saturday Ballroom Dance in Rockford – on the second Saturday of the month, September through November, and January through May in Rockford. 2nd Saturday dances are held at the Arthur Murray Studio, 7326 N. Cherry Vale Mall Dr., Rockford, IL. General dancing begins at 7:30. Admission to our dances is $6.00 for USA Dance members, $8.00 for non-members, and $2.00 for students.

Evolve Dance Company started as a dream of Artistic Director, Jenny Vause, and became a reality in June of 2005. Since opening, Evolve continues to provide quality instruction to dancers in Rockford and the surrounding areas. Evolve is located in the Brynwood Square Shopping Center, near the corner of Spring Creek and Mulford Roads. Jenny has been teaching and choreographing for twenty years, and our experienced, enthusiastic teachers provide dancers of all levels the terminology and technique needed to ”evolve” into the best dancer possible. The Cherry Valley Public Library District began as a village library on April 19, 1977 when seven persons were elected to serve as library trustees. The first building to house the library was Fisher's former store at 209 E. State Street, Cherry Valley. In 1978 the library trustees hired a librarian and applied for membership in the Northern Illinois Library System. By July 1979 there were 4,000 books on the shelves and 351 cardholders (167 adults and 184 children). In 1980, Revenue Sharing Grants were approved by both the Cherry Valley Village Board and the Cherry Valley Township Board and many books and materials were purchased. A Village Board grant of $20,000 was earmarked for purchase of a new library building. The library moved across the street to 202 E. State Street, the former Ekedahl Tool Building, and remained there for 9 years. In 1983, a referendum was passed creating the Cherry Valley Public Library District, thus increasing the size of the population served from 1,000 to 10,955 (1990 census). A new, larger library building was needed. Voters passed a referendum in April 1988 to build a new library building. The library moved to 755 E. State Street, its current location, in November 1989. The 13,300 square foot building now contains a collection of 63,508 print and audio-visual items, 162 subscrptions, 11,845 ebooks and 11 reference databases. The library serves a population of 20,000, and is open 62 hours per week (7 days a week Sept.-June).

However, feel free to call us our leave a message here -- we are generally quick to respond to our patrons. Pec Playhouse Theatre exists as an educational and charitable organization dedicated to the study, practice, and production of theatre and the related arts. We strive to provide quality theatre programs and related events for the greater enjoyment and appreciation of the people of Pecatonica, its surrounding communities, and the general public. We provide opportunities and encouragement to anyone having an active interest in theatre and related arts, including students and other young people, to use their talents, energies and ideas in the accomplishment of our goals.Pecatonica is a quiet little town nestled in the beautiful countryside of Northern Illinois, a wonderful place to visit annual events, browse the antique shops and other local stores, away from the big city. Just off of U.S. Highway 20, Pecatonica is easily accessible via many routes. Pec Playhouse Theatre (PPT) was formed in 1991 by a group of Pecatonica High School students and recent graduates who wanted to continue performing in theater after high school. With the help of some supportive adults, PPT was organized and produced its first show, Out of the Frying Pan. This show was funded entirely by membership dues and proceeds from a car wash. In these early years, shows were performed mostly at Pecatonica High School and occasionally at the American Legion Hall. By 1994, PPT began producing summer musicals with The Wizard of Oz, which marked a new attendance record. In the summer of 1995, PPT mentored the newly-formed Byron Civic Theatre in presenting its first production, Annie Get Your Gun. PPT was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1997. In 1999, PPT became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, making most contributions to PPT tax-deductible. Meanwhile, Pecatonica High School ended its theater program. So, in 1998, PPT produced You Can’t Take It With You as the first of what was to become an annual main-stage show featuring high school students. As time and space at the high school became increasingly scarce, PPT entered into an agreement in 1998 with the Pecatonica Heritage Museum to use space in their building complex. This arrangement allowed Pec Playhouse to expand their schedule to five shows per year. As the years went by, theater seats, air conditioning, heating, lights, sound equipment, and bathrooms were added to the facility. With the help of 2 amazing contributors, Pecatonica Pharmacy and George Anderson, and the support of German American State Bank, PPT was able to purchase the building in late 2004. In 2007 the donation of newer, more comfortable theater seats from a Rockford Memorial Hospital made the PPT theater experience even more enjoyable for our patrons. Since that time, volunteers and friends of PPT continue to work to improve the building and the theater - one amazing project being the complete remodeling of the former doctor's apartment upstairs into a wonderful dressing and make-up area. We’re grateful to all of our friends and volunteers who have donated their time and energy over the years, and to our patrons and donors who keep us going. We are excited about the future of Pec Playhouse, and hope you’ll want to be a part!

The SM&SF Club located in Rockford, Illinois, at 1010 Sandy Hollow Road, was established in 1898 as the Swedish Music and Sick Fraternity. At that time, Swedish singing societies were popular in the Midwest with singing competitions being held throughout the year. TTThe early Swedish immigrants were also a strong ethnic group that took care of each other, both physically and financially, during times of illness and death. Today, the SM&SF Club is a non-profit social club with membership that exceeds 600 members. It still maintains an old tradition of caring for the community by its annual “Kick-In for Cancer” fundraisers that have raised over $30,000 a year to benefit the local hospital’s oncology departments and our local hospice care providers.
