The area gives emphasis to questioning preconceived notions of the role of art in culture and its relationship to a specific form or medium.”WHAT IS DIGITAL MEDIA?Digital media generally plays an important role in both, art education and art therapy. Natalie Carlton defines digital media as “any type of storage, transmission, or product in digital format including hard drives, networking or communication modes, and computer-generated text, graphics, animations, photographs, sound files, and video used in many types of art forms such as theatre, music, graphic design and writing, visual arts, and dance.” (1)Digital media has inherent documented qualities not found in traditional materials. Carlton points to playback and immediacy, emotional distancing, and elements of pause, movability, mobility, and re-presentation being the main aspects of new technologies that she recognizes in her research on digital media in art therapy.“Immediacy of playback and pause, gives participants an instant sense of satisfaction, allowing them time for self-reflection and exploration.” Immediacy of playback and pause, gives participants an instant sense of satisfaction, allowing them time for self-reflection and exploration. It heightens the sense of control over the created imagery as well as one’s emotional state. Mobility of the digital media refers both, to tools and equipment being easily transportable and to accessibility to sharing of the creative products, which in turn, can give certain participants a sense of inclusivity (especially individuals, who might not otherwise benefit from the traditional forms of art therapy because of disabilities, illness, or physical limitations (2)). Carlton defines re-presentation as a “media quality where digital media has become a vital part of documentation and saving of artworks from analogue to digital formats to save, submit, or show later”. We are a Northern Illinois family run farm that raises free-range organic chickens. We hand raise our chickens in small batches which allows for better monitoring of their health. Our chickens are free to roam outside over 12 hours a day, where they run and catch bugs and dig up worms, all things God intended chickens to do. This special attention makes for high quality, tender, juicer, more flavorful chicken meat.Our team consists of myself, Christopher, my wife, Angela and our two sons, Landon and Grayden. We work together to perform the chores around the farm including weekly cleaning of coops, ensuring the chickens have fresh water, and of course feeding them. Gary Hill has been publishing Music Street Journal (musicstreetjournal.com) since 1998. Since 2018 Hill has published MSJ simultaneously on-line and in book form. He also published all the archives in book form. In 2019 Hill began a series of books under the Music Street Journal banner focused on the Rockford, Illinois music scene titled, "Music Street Journal Local: Rockford Area Music Makers." In August of 2006 his first book The Strange Sound of Cthulhu: Music Inspired by the Writings of H.P. Lovecraft was published. Since then several other books (The Concert Photography of Gary Hill, Strange Realities: Collected Short Stories and More by Gary Hill Expanded and Revised Edition, Poetry of the Air: A Collection of Love Letters from Musicians to Music and The Suite Music World of Gary Hill and a series of three books The Dark Starr Files) have been released. Wizard Song, his first book length science-fiction piece was released on March 31st, 2020. Hill has also written for cable television (Cops 2.0 on G4), All Music Guide, Demand Media Studios and more. He launched Tale of Wonder and Dread Publishing to release science fiction and horror books in 2018, but published a collection of those types of stories in 2017 titled "Dark Dreams and Worlds." Under the Tales of Wonder and Dread nameplate, Hill has published more than a dozen books including a series on Rockford Illinois cemeteries (Rockford's Final Resting Places), Spooky Rockford and Spooky Rockford Two and Spooky Berwyn. Hill launched Spooky Ventures in 2019 and has been doing video interviews, Spooky News segments and more for the Spooky Ventures YouTube Channel since then.

The Cherry Valley Public Library District began as a village library on April 19, 1977 when seven persons were elected to serve as library trustees. The first building to house the library was Fisher's former store at 209 E. State Street, Cherry Valley. In 1978 the library trustees hired a librarian and applied for membership in the Northern Illinois Library System. By July 1979 there were 4,000 books on the shelves and 351 cardholders (167 adults and 184 children). In 1980, Revenue Sharing Grants were approved by both the Cherry Valley Village Board and the Cherry Valley Township Board and many books and materials were purchased. A Village Board grant of $20,000 was earmarked for purchase of a new library building. The library moved across the street to 202 E. State Street, the former Ekedahl Tool Building, and remained there for 9 years. In 1983, a referendum was passed creating the Cherry Valley Public Library District, thus increasing the size of the population served from 1,000 to 10,955 (1990 census). A new, larger library building was needed. Voters passed a referendum in April 1988 to build a new library building. The library moved to 755 E. State Street, its current location, in November 1989. The 13,300 square foot building now contains a collection of 63,508 print and audio-visual items, 162 subscrptions, 11,845 ebooks and 11 reference databases. The library serves a population of 20,000, and is open 62 hours per week (7 days a week Sept.-June).

Pec Playhouse Theatre is a volunteer-run community theater in northern Illinois. Because we are volunteer-run, we do not have regular business hours. However, feel free to call us our leave a message here -- we are generally quick to respond to our patrons. Pec Playhouse Theatre exists as an educational and charitable organization dedicated to the study, practice, and production of theatre and the related arts. We strive to provide quality theatre programs and related events for the greater enjoyment and appreciation of the people of Pecatonica, its surrounding communities, and the general public. We provide opportunities and encouragement to anyone having an active interest in theatre and related arts, including students and other young people, to use their talents, energies and ideas in the accomplishment of our goals.Pecatonica is a quiet little town nestled in the beautiful countryside of Northern Illinois, a wonderful place to visit annual events, browse the antique shops and other local stores, away from the big city. Just off of U.S. Highway 20, Pecatonica is easily accessible via many routes. Pec Playhouse Theatre (PPT) was formed in 1991 by a group of Pecatonica High School students and recent graduates who wanted to continue performing in theater after high school. With the help of some supportive adults, PPT was organized and produced its first show, Out of the Frying Pan. This show was funded entirely by membership dues and proceeds from a car wash. In these early years, shows were performed mostly at Pecatonica High School and occasionally at the American Legion Hall. By 1994, PPT began producing summer musicals with The Wizard of Oz, which marked a new attendance record. In the summer of 1995, PPT mentored the newly-formed Byron Civic Theatre in presenting its first production, Annie Get Your Gun. PPT was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1997. In 1999, PPT became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, making most contributions to PPT tax-deductible. Meanwhile, Pecatonica High School ended its theater program. So, in 1998, PPT produced You Can’t Take It With You as the first of what was to become an annual main-stage show featuring high school students. As time and space at the high school became increasingly scarce, PPT entered into an agreement in 1998 with the Pecatonica Heritage Museum to use space in their building complex. This arrangement allowed Pec Playhouse to expand their schedule to five shows per year. As the years went by, theater seats, air conditioning, heating, lights, sound equipment, and bathrooms were added to the facility. With the help of 2 amazing contributors, Pecatonica Pharmacy and George Anderson, and the support of German American State Bank, PPT was able to purchase the building in late 2004. In 2007 the donation of newer, more comfortable theater seats from a Rockford Memorial Hospital made the PPT theater experience even more enjoyable for our patrons. Since that time, volunteers and friends of PPT continue to work to improve the building and the theater - one amazing project being the complete remodeling of the former doctor's apartment upstairs into a wonderful dressing and make-up area. We’re grateful to all of our friends and volunteers who have donated their time and energy over the years, and to our patrons and donors who keep us going. We are excited about the future of Pec Playhouse, and hope you’ll want to be a part!
