Do you remember your first sip of coffee? Chances are you either had a great experience, or you pursed your lips and wondered ‘how can adults drink this?’ When I was in college I would carry my own coffee creamer around in my backpack. I carried it around so that I could tolerate the taste of university java. I would pour some into my cup, and then other’s cups as well. I did not know it at the time, but I was building community. A space where conversations took place, stories shared, testimony’s heard. All centered around, coffee. Cafè Amorè was created between my shifts as a police officer. My appreciation for coffee has grown exponentially through the police academy, working nights, and mommying to my joy filled little human I get to call, my son. Like Jesus, coffee has provided me a safe place to go when I need a break, or a boost of energy to drive my purpose.  Cafè Amorè will be collaborating with local non-profit agencies to provide survivors of trauma, domestic violence, and substance abuse a chance to work voluntarily to gain work experience. As a police officer, I have had many interactions with survivors of such. It would be ignorant of myself to believe the interactions alone, would be enough to motivate survivors to rebuild their lives with positive relationships, and begin anew. It simply does not work that way. It takes time and consistency, as many survivors of trauma or addiction relapse to their previous lifestyles within the first year. Cafè Amorè is more than a place of employment that serves phenomenal lattès. It is a place where everyone has a seat at the table.That’s the purpose of Cafè Amorè. A safe haven where community is built on principles of: self-love, healing, authenticity, and rebuilding. So many of us have survived strongholds on our lives that have left us feeling defeated, unloved, or invaluable. The reality is, you, are welcome at Cafè Amorè. Together we will grow sipping one lattè at a time.

We are a Northern Illinois family run farm that raises free-range organic chickens. We hand raise our chickens in small batches which allows for better monitoring of their health. Our chickens are free to roam outside over 12 hours a day, where they run and catch bugs and dig up worms, all things God intended chickens to do. This special attention makes for high quality, tender, juicer, more flavorful chicken meat.Our team consists of myself, Christopher, my wife, Angela and our two sons, Landon and Grayden. We work together to perform the chores around the farm including weekly cleaning of coops, ensuring the chickens have fresh water, and of course feeding them. Jenny has been teaching and choreographing for twenty years, and our experienced, enthusiastic teachers provide dancers of all levels the terminology and technique needed to ”evolve” into the best dancer possible. The general public is warmly invited to attend all of our events. 4th Saturday Ballroom Dance in Belvidere – every fourth Saturday of the month we hold a dance at the beautiful Community Building Complex of Boone County (Belvidere Community Center), 111 W. 1st St, Belvidere, IL. We start with a one hour lesson at 7:00, general dancing begins at 8:00. Mixers and exhibitions take place throughout the evening. (Note - the date will be moved if the 4th Saturday falls on Christmas Eve/Day. College of Nursing The UIC College of Nursing Rockford Regional Program opened in 1992. The nursing regional site offers access to a wide variety of graduate programs in diverse specialties. In addition to several master’s programs, the program offers the Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Classes are offered in a variety of formats – in person, videoconference and online. Clinical experiences are arranged and supervised by faculty at a variety of sites in and around the Rockford area. College of Pharmacy In a direct response to the continuing shortage of pharmacists in Illinois, the College of Pharmacy created its Rockford regional program. The first class of students was admitted in 2010 and will complete all four years of pharmacy education on the Rockford campus and at clerkship sites throughout the state. Students in the Rockford program will complete all of the same coursework as students on the Chicago campus. Select students from rural backgrounds will be admitted to the rural pharmacy (RPharm) program, training with medical students from the College of Medicine at Rockford Rural Medical Education (RMED) program.

We strive to provide quality theatre programs and related events for the greater enjoyment and appreciation of the people of Pecatonica, its surrounding communities, and the general public. We provide opportunities and encouragement to anyone having an active interest in theatre and related arts, including students and other young people, to use their talents, energies and ideas in the accomplishment of our goals.Pecatonica is a quiet little town nestled in the beautiful countryside of Northern Illinois, a wonderful place to visit annual events, browse the antique shops and other local stores, away from the big city. Just off of U.S. Highway 20, Pecatonica is easily accessible via many routes. Pec Playhouse Theatre (PPT) was formed in 1991 by a group of Pecatonica High School students and recent graduates who wanted to continue performing in theater after high school. With the help of some supportive adults, PPT was organized and produced its first show, Out of the Frying Pan. This show was funded entirely by membership dues and proceeds from a car wash. In these early years, shows were performed mostly at Pecatonica High School and occasionally at the American Legion Hall. By 1994, PPT began producing summer musicals with The Wizard of Oz, which marked a new attendance record. In the summer of 1995, PPT mentored the newly-formed Byron Civic Theatre in presenting its first production, Annie Get Your Gun. PPT was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1997. In 1999, PPT became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, making most contributions to PPT tax-deductible. Meanwhile, Pecatonica High School ended its theater program. So, in 1998, PPT produced You Can’t Take It With You as the first of what was to become an annual main-stage show featuring high school students. As time and space at the high school became increasingly scarce, PPT entered into an agreement in 1998 with the Pecatonica Heritage Museum to use space in their building complex. This arrangement allowed Pec Playhouse to expand their schedule to five shows per year. As the years went by, theater seats, air conditioning, heating, lights, sound equipment, and bathrooms were added to the facility. With the help of 2 amazing contributors, Pecatonica Pharmacy and George Anderson, and the support of German American State Bank, PPT was able to purchase the building in late 2004. In 2007 the donation of newer, more comfortable theater seats from a Rockford Memorial Hospital made the PPT theater experience even more enjoyable for our patrons. Since that time, volunteers and friends of PPT continue to work to improve the building and the theater - one amazing project being the complete remodeling of the former doctor's apartment upstairs into a wonderful dressing and make-up area. We’re grateful to all of our friends and volunteers who have donated their time and energy over the years, and to our patrons and donors who keep us going. We are excited about the future of Pec Playhouse, and hope you’ll want to be a part!

Our museum campus has an assortment of historical buildings. The queen of the campus is the Waukesha Hangar, a reclaimed 1937 airplane hangar which houses our unique museum. Outside you can also visit our historic Slim's Garage, "fill up" at our historic Sunoco Gas Station, or just take in the beauty of our pastoral landscape while experiencing the thrill of airplanes taking off nearby. The Poplar Grove Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum is a great place to visit again and again for new exhibits and events throughout the year. Be sure to check us out during our open season (May 1st to October 31st) and see for yourself why we are a great historical and cultural center for the community, the county, and beyond.
