In the spring of 2012, the Seventh Street Coffee, Inc. not-for-profit was formed for the purpose of purchasing Katie’s Cup from ZION Development. Katie's Cup is named after Katharina Luther, the wife of Martin Luther –the famous Protestant Reformer. Martin is remembered for being at the center of the social, theological, and political changes of the Reformation. But Katharina is remembered for her generous hospitality. Our Northern Illinois chapter is a friendly mix of couples and singles of all levels, from beginner to competitor. The general public is warmly invited to attend all of our events. 4th Saturday Ballroom Dance in Belvidere – every fourth Saturday of the month we hold a dance at the beautiful Community Building Complex of Boone County (Belvidere Community Center), 111 W. 1st St, Belvidere, IL. We start with a one hour lesson at 7:00, general dancing begins at 8:00. Mixers and exhibitions take place throughout the evening. (Note - the date will be moved if the 4th Saturday falls on Christmas Eve/Day. Also - the 4th Saturday of the month is not always the last Saturday of the month!) 2nd Saturday Ballroom Dance in Rockford – on the second Saturday of the month, September through November, and January through May in Rockford. 2nd Saturday dances are held at the Arthur Murray Studio, 7326 N. The Erlander Home Museum is a cultural centerpiece of Rockford's Swedish ancestry community,and a major asset of the Society. Our trained volunteers are appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of children in the abuse and neglect court. Our obligation is to ensure that the children we represent will be visited at least monthly, and that their needs, desires and circumstances will be reported to the court at every scheduled hearing. The Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem (CASA/GAL) will be the consistent person in the child’s life.

As Rock River Valley area residents struggle in a depressed economy, the community has experienced a dramatic increase in the number of family pets abandoned or surrendered to animal shelters because of their family’s inability to provide food. To address this need, Kibble Korner has been established to help area families who are struggling to keep their pets and families intact. Kibble Korner temporarily supplies local residents with food for their hungry pets.

Pampered Pet offers a complete line of fine grooming services to bring out the best of appearance and personality in any breed. We work carefully, never rush, and do not overbook appointments. We always take our time and do it right. Kibble Korner was started in 2011 to help people in our community keep their pets. It is inside the Rock River Valley Food Pantry and accepts donations of dog and cat food and cat litter. It was started as a temporary pantry but the need is so great in our area that is needing more food than we can keep up with. We now have a website: kibblekorner.com, a Facebook page, and e-mail kibblekorner@gmail.com. You can donate directly to the pantry, through PayPal or send it to: Kibble Korner P.O. Box 10331, Loves Park, IL. 61131. We are now going throught about 2,000 pounds of food a month which cost about $500 a month and we are running out of money. There are several drop of location throughout Winnebago County and they are all listed on the website, if someone needs help by getting food from Kibble Korner the applications are also on the website. Pampered Pet had an idea last year to start a Pet Supply Resale Shop and the proceeds go to Kibble Korner. We accept any donation of new or gently used pet items. We will take small pet carriers, collars and leashes, coats and sweaters, toys, bowls, any cat items. $5.00 can keep a family pet in their home for a month instead of making them turn their pet into a shelter or rescue so every little bit helps.

Our bakery specializes in baking treats for a variety of dietary needs. The SM&SF Club located in Rockford, Illinois, at 1010 Sandy Hollow Road, was established in 1898 as the Swedish Music and Sick Fraternity. At that time, Swedish singing societies were popular in the Midwest with singing competitions being held throughout the year. TTThe early Swedish immigrants were also a strong ethnic group that took care of each other, both physically and financially, during times of illness and death. Today, the SM&SF Club is a non-profit social club with membership that exceeds 600 members. It still maintains an old tradition of caring for the community by its annual “Kick-In for Cancer” fundraisers that have raised over $30,000 a year to benefit the local hospital’s oncology departments and our local hospice care providers.
