A 'trinadora' is a bird native to Argentina, known for its unique song filled with trills. In Peruvian slang, 'trinadora' means 'guitar.' The word 'trinadora' is Spanish and derives from the verb 'trinar' which means 'to trill.'

The Erlander Home Museum is a cultural centerpiece of Rockford's Swedish ancestry community,and a major asset of the Society. The Museum is located within the home which was built for John Erlander and his family in 1871, within the historic Haight Village of Rockford.Collections include Rockford-made furniture and many artifacts recalling Swedish immigration to northern Illinois and Rockford's Swedish heritage.The Museum is open Tuesday thru Friday by appointment only. Please allow 72 hours lead time for requesting a tour. Filled with original furnishings, artwork, diaries, clothing and household items, the Cottage is a rich time capsule of life during the Victorian Era. The Cottage is also one of only a handful of Swiss-style homes remaining in the United States and is located in the heart of Rockford, Illinois. The museum complex contains the historic house museum, barn, and carriage house from the Tinker family.
