Williams Tree Farm has been family owned and operated for over 70 years. The farm was purchased in the 1940’s by Carlton and Amelia Williams and their son Wayne. Originally a dairy and hog farm, timbers were harvested from the farm and saw for what was known as The Wagon Wheel, a historic resort located in Rockton,IL. To replace those trees and for good stewardship of the land, the trees that we harvested where replaced with seedlings. When a winter storm occurred and Christmas trees where in short supply, some of those seedlings were harvested to meet that demand. Thus a new business was born. Christmas tree production was the focus for decades, with the farm shipping trees to local areas as well as sites in the suburbs of Chicago, but as the families began to look for experience based purchases, Williams Tree Farm led the industry in becoming a choose and cut farm. Now more then ever, making memories is what we are all about.

Join us as local history lives on in a quaint home built in 1850's. Known today as The Ethnic Heritage Museum it is here that you will find six fascinating galleries devoted to the primary immigrant groups that settled in southwest Rockford, IL. African-American, Hispanic, Irish, Italian, Lithuanian and Polish. Through displays of early Rockford area maps, everyday artifacts, vintage clothing and more, visitors of all ages can learn about Old World customs and traditions. Historical photographs tell the stories of the earliest settlers who established factories near the old "waterpower district" and built their homes nearby. By comparing early with current lifestyles, the museum strives to bridge the gap between yesterday and today ... encouraging visitors to relive the past with a clear focus on Rockford's bright future. The 2nd City Chorus was founded in 1996 and has earned the distinction as one of Rockford’s premier musical ensembles. As part of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Rockford Metro Chapter has competed in many Society competitions and has was won the Small Chorus champingship in the Illinois District as well as the Illinois District Most Entertaining Chorus! In June of 2017 the Barbershop Harmony Society made a radical decision and called it "Everyone in Harmony". This new vision allowed woman to join the Society as full members. The Illinois District Fall Contest crowed the 2nd City Chorus as the First Mixed Chorus Champiions. The men and women of the 2nd City Chorus come from all walks of life - we are teachers, engineers, salesmen, pilots, mechanics, counselors, doctors, nurses and retirees. The one thing we all have in common is a tremendous love for music in the Barbershop style! Under the direction of Joe Tomecek, the group meets every Tuesday evening between 7:00 and 9:30 pm at the Christ United Methodist Church Church located at the northeast corner of Highcrest and Alpine Streets in Rockford.  All singers, regardless of experience are welcome to visit and explore membership in our group!

Male mentoring is available to young men facing fatherhood. Emil W. Schmeling, an industrious German immigrant, began as a general contractor in Rockford in 1903. Emil’s first large-scale project was the construction of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rockford. Our corporate philosophy was established by Emil more than 100 years ago and still stands true today: “Do it right!” Emil grew his business by following this simple, yet critical rule. In addition to parking lot autocross events where you can compete against the clock in a very controlled environment, the Sports Car Club of Rockford also hoststhe following types of events at race tracks in the Midwest.Wheel-to-Wheel sports car racing is one of the areas that our members participate in. This type of competition events requires that you hold a valid competition license from Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs (http://mcscc.org ) or another recognized sanctioning body. The Wheel-to-Wheel sports car racing Championship Series has been the foundation for the Midwestern Councils racing program for over 50 years. The series features 10-12 race events per year held at the different tracks that Midwestern Council visits.Competition cars based on mass-produced street vehicles (Honda Civics to Corvettes) compete in four categories that include:Showroom Stock: Equally prepared street vehicles with virtually no modifications other then those required for safety.Improved Touring: Similar street prepared cars with performance improvements, while maintaining suitability for street use.Production and GT: These classes allow added levels of performance improvements to increase power and chassis dynamics.Formula and Sports Racer: There are several classes for single-seat, purpose built race cars, as well as classes for both single and dual seat sports racers.Vintage / Historic: The goal of the Vintage historic Racing program is to provide a fun, safe venue for enjoyment of racing cars built and prepared to pre-1975 levels, and for driver that favor the thrill of a skillful drive and good competition.Careful stewarding is emphasized in this racing series, following the basic rules for complete car control throughout the event. Metal to metal contact is never acceptable and we use the 13-13 rule used by other Vintage Racing sanctioning bodies. Vintage/historic cars race in their own race group.
