Do you remember your first sip of coffee? Chances are you either had a great experience, or you pursed your lips and wondered ‘how can adults drink this?’ When I was in college I would carry my own coffee creamer around in my backpack. I carried it around so that I could tolerate the taste of university java. I would pour some into my cup, and then other’s cups as well. I did not know it at the time, but I was building community. A space where conversations took place, stories shared, testimony’s heard. All centered around, coffee. Cafè Amorè was created between my shifts as a police officer. My appreciation for coffee has grown exponentially through the police academy, working nights, and mommying to my joy filled little human I get to call, my son. Like Jesus, coffee has provided me a safe place to go when I need a break, or a boost of energy to drive my purpose.  Cafè Amorè will be collaborating with local non-profit agencies to provide survivors of trauma, domestic violence, and substance abuse a chance to work voluntarily to gain work experience. As a police officer, I have had many interactions with survivors of such. It would be ignorant of myself to believe the interactions alone, would be enough to motivate survivors to rebuild their lives with positive relationships, and begin anew. It simply does not work that way. It takes time and consistency, as many survivors of trauma or addiction relapse to their previous lifestyles within the first year. Cafè Amorè is more than a place of employment that serves phenomenal lattès. It is a place where everyone has a seat at the table.That’s the purpose of Cafè Amorè. A safe haven where community is built on principles of: self-love, healing, authenticity, and rebuilding. So many of us have survived strongholds on our lives that have left us feeling defeated, unloved, or invaluable. The reality is, you, are welcome at Cafè Amorè. Together we will grow sipping one lattè at a time.

Welcome to our page! We are the Northern Illinois chapter of USA Dance (chapter #2039). Our Northern Illinois chapter is a friendly mix of couples and singles of all levels, from beginner to competitor. The general public is warmly invited to attend all of our events. 4th Saturday Ballroom Dance in Belvidere – every fourth Saturday of the month we hold a dance at the beautiful Community Building Complex of Boone County (Belvidere Community Center), 111 W. 1st St, Belvidere, IL. We start with a one hour lesson at 7:00, general dancing begins at 8:00. Mixers and exhibitions take place throughout the evening. (Note - the date will be moved if the 4th Saturday falls on Christmas Eve/Day. Also - the 4th Saturday of the month is not always the last Saturday of the month!) 2nd Saturday Ballroom Dance in Rockford – on the second Saturday of the month, September through November, and January through May in Rockford. 2nd Saturday dances are held at the Arthur Murray Studio, 7326 N. Calvary Baptist Church on Linden Road in Rockford, IL, is opening a Pre-K - 12th grade extended-year school for the 2024/2025 school year. We will have traditional subjects taught in the classroom, along with debate, gardening, home economics, journaling, quarterly community service projects, and STEM.How the school will be different from other private schools in the area is, while we are a traditional school, we will be offering what we call an Extended Year. The following is how the extended year will work:Once the traditional school year is completed at the end of May, the extended year will begin in June. The academic focus will be reading, math, and science. Students will participate in fun group science projects, a summer reading program, math games, outdoor activities, and field trips. Vacation days are scheduled during the summer.The cost of the extended year is included in each student's tuition fee.The extended school year is two-fold. When we began our business in the Spring of 1985, Finials was a lamp shop selling a wide variety of lamps for the home and offering a large selection of replacement lampshades. After two years, we had the opportunity to purchase our present location. It had been a Scandinavian gift shop for a number of years. As we moved into the new location and after extensive remodeling and decorating, we fell more in love with our Swedish heritage. So, we decided to try something very unusual and combined the two businesses. Over the years, we have added on to the property yet with a concern to keep the charm of the original building. Rockford Rage is a roller derby league based in Rockford, Illinois. Founded in 2006, the league consisted of two teams which competed against teams from other leagues. The league was founded in mid-2006, and played its first bout in December: an interleague contest between the Demolition Dolls and the Screw City Slammers, teams which have since been disbanded. The bout attracted 650 fans. In 2009, the league attracted attention for its abandonment of smoking breaks. Rockford was accepted into the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Program in September 2009, and became a full member of the WFTDA in June 2010.The Rockford Rage will be hosting home bouts for the 2018 season at the UW Sports Factory located in downtown Rockford.

The 2nd City Chorus was founded in 1996 and has earned the distinction as one of Rockford’s premier musical ensembles. As part of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Rockford Metro Chapter has competed in many Society competitions and has was won the Small Chorus champingship in the Illinois District as well as the Illinois District Most Entertaining Chorus! In June of 2017 the Barbershop Harmony Society made a radical decision and called it "Everyone in Harmony". This new vision allowed woman to join the Society as full members. The Illinois District Fall Contest crowed the 2nd City Chorus as the First Mixed Chorus Champiions. The men and women of the 2nd City Chorus come from all walks of life - we are teachers, engineers, salesmen, pilots, mechanics, counselors, doctors, nurses and retirees. The one thing we all have in common is a tremendous love for music in the Barbershop style! Under the direction of Joe Tomecek, the group meets every Tuesday evening between 7:00 and 9:30 pm at the Christ United Methodist Church Church located at the northeast corner of Highcrest and Alpine Streets in Rockford.  All singers, regardless of experience are welcome to visit and explore membership in our group!

The large hall is available for $800 with a $100 damage deposit with a seating capacity of 250 people. As the only winery in historic Boone County, McEachran Homestead is pleased to offer a unique wine tasting experience for all your senses. Our friendly staff will offer your group a unique opportunity to sample a variety of cold-climate grape and seasonal fruit wines made on-site. Guests will learn of the different types of wine varieties and how viticulture and production aspects influence the flavor of McEachran Homestead’s wines. Guided tours also offer insight into the pruning, tending, and nurturing of the vineyards and surrounding gardens. This tour is also an insight to the rich history found at McEachran.

Pec Playhouse Theatre is a volunteer-run community theater in northern Illinois. Because we are volunteer-run, we do not have regular business hours. However, feel free to call us our leave a message here -- we are generally quick to respond to our patrons. Pec Playhouse Theatre exists as an educational and charitable organization dedicated to the study, practice, and production of theatre and the related arts. We strive to provide quality theatre programs and related events for the greater enjoyment and appreciation of the people of Pecatonica, its surrounding communities, and the general public. We provide opportunities and encouragement to anyone having an active interest in theatre and related arts, including students and other young people, to use their talents, energies and ideas in the accomplishment of our goals.Pecatonica is a quiet little town nestled in the beautiful countryside of Northern Illinois, a wonderful place to visit annual events, browse the antique shops and other local stores, away from the big city. Just off of U.S. Highway 20, Pecatonica is easily accessible via many routes. Pec Playhouse Theatre (PPT) was formed in 1991 by a group of Pecatonica High School students and recent graduates who wanted to continue performing in theater after high school. With the help of some supportive adults, PPT was organized and produced its first show, Out of the Frying Pan. This show was funded entirely by membership dues and proceeds from a car wash. In these early years, shows were performed mostly at Pecatonica High School and occasionally at the American Legion Hall. By 1994, PPT began producing summer musicals with The Wizard of Oz, which marked a new attendance record. In the summer of 1995, PPT mentored the newly-formed Byron Civic Theatre in presenting its first production, Annie Get Your Gun. PPT was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 1997. In 1999, PPT became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, making most contributions to PPT tax-deductible. Meanwhile, Pecatonica High School ended its theater program. So, in 1998, PPT produced You Can’t Take It With You as the first of what was to become an annual main-stage show featuring high school students. As time and space at the high school became increasingly scarce, PPT entered into an agreement in 1998 with the Pecatonica Heritage Museum to use space in their building complex. This arrangement allowed Pec Playhouse to expand their schedule to five shows per year. As the years went by, theater seats, air conditioning, heating, lights, sound equipment, and bathrooms were added to the facility. With the help of 2 amazing contributors, Pecatonica Pharmacy and George Anderson, and the support of German American State Bank, PPT was able to purchase the building in late 2004. In 2007 the donation of newer, more comfortable theater seats from a Rockford Memorial Hospital made the PPT theater experience even more enjoyable for our patrons. Since that time, volunteers and friends of PPT continue to work to improve the building and the theater - one amazing project being the complete remodeling of the former doctor's apartment upstairs into a wonderful dressing and make-up area. We’re grateful to all of our friends and volunteers who have donated their time and energy over the years, and to our patrons and donors who keep us going. We are excited about the future of Pec Playhouse, and hope you’ll want to be a part!
