The “Women’s Suffrage Centennial 2020 Northern Illinois Celebration” or “WSC2020 Celebration” seeks to mark the 100th Anniversary of women receiving the vote by encouraging women’s groups and civic organizations in northern Illinois to present a wide range of educational and artistic events, displays and exhibits from January 2020, each month through the end of December 2020.The Steering Committee for the WSC2020 Celebration is made up of representatives from a number of local organizations including AAUW Rockford Area Branch, Rockford NSDAR, WNIJ, Womanspace, LWVGR, NAACP, Women’s March Rockford, WTVO and the Rockford Public Library. In addition to a WSC2020 Calendar of Events, the WSC2020 Celebration Steering Committee is spearheading two main goals. A special highlight will be a celebratory community party to be held in Rockford, IL called “Sippin’ with Suffragists” on August 18, 2020. This day marks 100 years to the day of the actual date of ratification.An even more ambitious goal is the creation of a permanent art installation within the city to honor the women who strove over seven decades to achieve women’s suffrage. Details will be announced on October 30th at the official WSC2020 Celebration press conference.Questions of the Steering Committee may be addressed by contacting WSC2020IL@gmail.com.

We are a Northern Illinois family run farm that raises free-range organic chickens. We hand raise our chickens in small batches which allows for better monitoring of their health. Our chickens are free to roam outside over 12 hours a day, where they run and catch bugs and dig up worms, all things God intended chickens to do. This special attention makes for high quality, tender, juicer, more flavorful chicken meat.Our team consists of myself, Christopher, my wife, Angela and our two sons, Landon and Grayden. We work together to perform the chores around the farm including weekly cleaning of coops, ensuring the chickens have fresh water, and of course feeding them. The general public is warmly invited to attend all of our events. 4th Saturday Ballroom Dance in Belvidere – every fourth Saturday of the month we hold a dance at the beautiful Community Building Complex of Boone County (Belvidere Community Center), 111 W. 1st St, Belvidere, IL. We start with a one hour lesson at 7:00, general dancing begins at 8:00. Mixers and exhibitions take place throughout the evening. (Note - the date will be moved if the 4th Saturday falls on Christmas Eve/Day. Also - the 4th Saturday of the month is not always the last Saturday of the month!) 2nd Saturday Ballroom Dance in Rockford – on the second Saturday of the month, September through November, and January through May in Rockford. 2nd Saturday dances are held at the Arthur Murray Studio, 7326 N. The Mendelssohn PAC campus includes Mendelssohn Hall (406 N. Main St.) Emerson House (420 N. Main St.), and Starr Center (415 N. Church St.) Our administrative offices are located in Mendelssohn Hall. We offer an annual Mainstage Concert Series of live performances by local, national, and international guest artists, and our Charlotte's Web Series which features a variety of music from different cultures around the world. Our Music On Main concerts are brief and intimate after-work performances by local and regional musicians. We also have a Jazz at Starr Center Series of Sunday afternoon concerts, strictly devoted to jazz! Our Youth Music Program includes concerts, recitals, outreaches, master classes, workshops, and the Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Competition. We also have several programs for adult musicians, including Art Song Project and Piano Performance Group. Along with all our musical opportunities, we offer beautiful rental venues perfect for weddings, receptions, showers, parties, and meeting of all sizes. NWVU Rockford SheVet's mission is to advocate, educate, and bond with all women veterans to ensure they are connected to appropriate direct services and resources for readjustment and coping skills as they return to employment, school, and family. categories The mission of the NWVU Rockford SheVet Chapter is to ensure that women veterans are made aware and have access to their VA benefits and entitlements including current or pending legislation that impacts VA benefits. NWVU puts special emphasis on assisting homeless women veterans to ensure they have immediate housing or shelter. We advocate for improved service delivery and adequate services for women veterans in federal,state, city, and county services. We monitor service delivery at the VA clinics and medical centers. NWVU has built alliances with various veteran organizations. VA benefit offices to include VA clinics and hospitals and grass roots organizations. Through this collaboration we provide individual and personal referrals for all women veterans.

Pampered Pet offers a complete line of fine grooming services to bring out the best of appearance and personality in any breed. We work carefully, never rush, and do not overbook appointments. We always take our time and do it right. Kibble Korner was started in 2011 to help people in our community keep their pets. It is inside the Rock River Valley Food Pantry and accepts donations of dog and cat food and cat litter. It was started as a temporary pantry but the need is so great in our area that is needing more food than we can keep up with. We now have a website: kibblekorner.com, a Facebook page, and e-mail kibblekorner@gmail.com. You can donate directly to the pantry, through PayPal or send it to: Kibble Korner P.O. Box 10331, Loves Park, IL. 61131. We are now going throught about 2,000 pounds of food a month which cost about $500 a month and we are running out of money. There are several drop of location throughout Winnebago County and they are all listed on the website, if someone needs help by getting food from Kibble Korner the applications are also on the website. Pampered Pet had an idea last year to start a Pet Supply Resale Shop and the proceeds go to Kibble Korner. We accept any donation of new or gently used pet items. We will take small pet carriers, collars and leashes, coats and sweaters, toys, bowls, any cat items. $5.00 can keep a family pet in their home for a month instead of making them turn their pet into a shelter or rescue so every little bit helps.
