Do you remember your first sip of coffee? Chances are you either had a great experience, or you pursed your lips and wondered ‘how can adults drink this?’ When I was in college I would carry my own coffee creamer around in my backpack. I carried it around so that I could tolerate the taste of university java. I would pour some into my cup, and then other’s cups as well. I did not know it at the time, but I was building community. A space where conversations took place, stories shared, testimony’s heard. All centered around, coffee. Cafè Amorè was created between my shifts as a police officer. My appreciation for coffee has grown exponentially through the police academy, working nights, and mommying to my joy filled little human I get to call, my son. Like Jesus, coffee has provided me a safe place to go when I need a break, or a boost of energy to drive my purpose.  Cafè Amorè will be collaborating with local non-profit agencies to provide survivors of trauma, domestic violence, and substance abuse a chance to work voluntarily to gain work experience. As a police officer, I have had many interactions with survivors of such. It would be ignorant of myself to believe the interactions alone, would be enough to motivate survivors to rebuild their lives with positive relationships, and begin anew. It simply does not work that way. It takes time and consistency, as many survivors of trauma or addiction relapse to their previous lifestyles within the first year. Cafè Amorè is more than a place of employment that serves phenomenal lattès. It is a place where everyone has a seat at the table.That’s the purpose of Cafè Amorè. A safe haven where community is built on principles of: self-love, healing, authenticity, and rebuilding. So many of us have survived strongholds on our lives that have left us feeling defeated, unloved, or invaluable. The reality is, you, are welcome at Cafè Amorè. Together we will grow sipping one lattè at a time.

We are a Northern Illinois family run farm that raises free-range organic chickens. We hand raise our chickens in small batches which allows for better monitoring of their health. Our chickens are free to roam outside over 12 hours a day, where they run and catch bugs and dig up worms, all things God intended chickens to do. Our Northern Illinois chapter is a friendly mix of couples and singles of all levels, from beginner to competitor. The general public is warmly invited to attend all of our events. 4th Saturday Ballroom Dance in Belvidere – every fourth Saturday of the month we hold a dance at the beautiful Community Building Complex of Boone County (Belvidere Community Center), 111 W. 1st St, Belvidere, IL. We start with a one hour lesson at 7:00, general dancing begins at 8:00. Mixers and exhibitions take place throughout the evening. (Note - the date will be moved if the 4th Saturday falls on Christmas Eve/Day. Evolve Dance Company started as a dream of Artistic Director, Jenny Vause, and became a reality in June of 2005. Since opening, Evolve continues to provide quality instruction to dancers in Rockford and the surrounding areas. Evolve is located in the Brynwood Square Shopping Center, near the corner of Spring Creek and Mulford Roads. Jenny has been teaching and choreographing for twenty years, and our experienced, enthusiastic teachers provide dancers of all levels the terminology and technique needed to ”evolve” into the best dancer possible. We are very proud of our teachers whose accomplishments include numerous choreography awards at competitions, choreography for children’s theaters, professional back-up dancing, and work with local churches and school musicals. Williams Tree Farm has been family owned and operated for over 70 years. The farm was purchased in the 1940’s by Carlton and Amelia Williams and their son Wayne. Originally a dairy and hog farm, timbers were harvested from the farm and saw for what was known as The Wagon Wheel, a historic resort located in Rockton,IL. To replace those trees and for good stewardship of the land, the trees that we harvested where replaced with seedlings. When a winter storm occurred and Christmas trees where in short supply, some of those seedlings were harvested to meet that demand. Thus a new business was born. Christmas tree production was the focus for decades, with the farm shipping trees to local areas as well as sites in the suburbs of Chicago, but as the families began to look for experience based purchases, Williams Tree Farm led the industry in becoming a choose and cut farm. Now more then ever, making memories is what we are all about.
