The 2nd City Chorus was founded in 1996 and has earned the distinction as one of Rockford’s premier musical ensembles. As part of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Rockford Metro Chapter has competed in many Society competitions and has was won the Small Chorus champingship in the Illinois District as well as the Illinois District Most Entertaining Chorus! In June of 2017 the Barbershop Harmony Society made a radical decision and called it "Everyone in Harmony". This new vision allowed woman to join the Society as full members. The Illinois District Fall Contest crowed the 2nd City Chorus as the First Mixed Chorus Champiions. The men and women of the 2nd City Chorus come from all walks of life - we are teachers, engineers, salesmen, pilots, mechanics, counselors, doctors, nurses and retirees. The one thing we all have in common is a tremendous love for music in the Barbershop style! Under the direction of Joe Tomecek, the group meets every Tuesday evening between 7:00 and 9:30 pm at the Christ United Methodist Church Church located at the northeast corner of Highcrest and Alpine Streets in Rockford.  All singers, regardless of experience are welcome to visit and explore membership in our group!

For 56 years, the Natural Land Institute has helped residents of northern Illinois conserve the land they cherish. We are one of the oldest private conservation groups in the Midwest. We are a member supported, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving land and natural diversity for future generations. Since 1958, NLI has protected, managed, and restored more than 16,000 acres throughout Illinois and southern Wisconsin. These include prairies, forests, wetlands, and river corridors. Serving as a regional land trust, the Institute accepts donations of properties, buys lands, manages natural areas, and helps landowners establish legal agreements that permanently limit harmful use and development.

The founding members of EAA Chapter 22 were: Frank Murray, Joe Kirk, Lynn Stevenson, Ken Long, Hendley Hall, Mel Jacobeson, Bud Harwood, Ken Casson, Bob Richardson, Ed Livingston and Roy Malm. EAA Chapter 22 was started with a meeting in Cottonwood FBO owner Frank Murray's office sometime in 1956. Frank Murray was elected the first president and ran the organization until he resigned due to ill health.The first issue of "TOUCH & GO" (EAA Chapter 22's monthly newsletter) was published in 1964 with Peter MacKay as the editor. We seek a future when sentient animals are no longer exploited as commodities.We focus on reaching the people who are motivated enough to make changes now—there are always many in our target audience who just need some guidance.Founded in 1993, we’ve been most known for our massive outreach program of leafleting on college campuses. At its peak, we were handing booklets to over 1 million students at 1,000 schools per semester.By steadily increasing the number of vegans, we’re laying the groundwork to reach a tipping point in which sweeping public policy changes for animals will become realistic.

Honoring the Veterans of Winnebago County Since 1903. Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum is a living memorial to Veterans from all wars. It will serve as a constant reminder to the sacrifices given by brave men and women from Winnebago County and a way for generations to remember and learn about their lives. Open Tuesday through Friday from 9-4. Historic docent led tours on Tuesdays at 11 am and Wednesday at 1 pm.Weekends and group tours by appointment. Rentals available. This Memorial Hall, one of the first of it's kind in the state of Illinois to be dedicated to our veterans of all wars, was completed in the year 1903. The doors opened with the dedication ceremonies on June third of that year by our twenty - sixth president Theodore Roosevelt with these words: "No more fitting memorial could be erected to the men who fought, than a hall such as this..... a hall beautiful because of the uses to which it is consecrated" - Teddy Roosevelt 1903.

Rockford Rage is a roller derby league based in Rockford, Illinois. Founded in 2006, the league consisted of two teams which competed against teams from other leagues. The league was founded in mid-2006, and played its first bout in December: an interleague contest between the Demolition Dolls and the Screw City Slammers, teams which have since been disbanded. The bout attracted 650 fans. In 2009, the league attracted attention for its abandonment of smoking breaks. Rockford was accepted into the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Program in September 2009, and became a full member of the WFTDA in June 2010.The Rockford Rage will be hosting home bouts for the 2018 season at the UW Sports Factory located in downtown Rockford.
