Turtle Creek winds its way for over 30 miles from Turtle Lake near Delavan, Wisconsin to the Rock River in South Beloit, Illinois. This creek was home to the Ho-Chunk for hundreds of years and there are many ancient campsites that have been found along Turtle Creek. During our paddle we will paddle under Tiffany Bridge, a historic, hand-built, 5-arch limestone railroad bridge and one of the most photographed historic icons in Rock County. This event is part of Beloit Heritage Days, held September 10-12.

Details: 5+ mile paddle from Clinton, WI to Sweet Allyn Park. We will meet at Sweet Allyn Park at the designated time then shuttle to the launch in Clinton, which is fairly easy with slower moving water. While not an arduous paddle, the narrow width and moving water present challenges not suitable for a first time paddler. You can expect to be on the water for 1:30 - 1:45 based on conditions. Water levels do fluctuate, and we could experience shallow areas that require you to get out of your kayak to portage. If we have to cancel the trip due to weather, you get a full refund. Any decision to cancel the trip will be made the day of the event.

Location: Sweet Allyn Park 7149 South Cty Hwy J; Beloit, Wisconsin 53511. Just down the street from the Shopiere Tap.

What to bring/wear: Something to drink, maybe a light snack. Shoes that can get wet as you will likely have to step in the water. If combined air and water temps are below 120 degrees, need some protective clothing to combat weather. Avoid cotton as it does not insulate well and it retains water when wet. Please give us a call or stop in if you have any questions on appropriate paddling attire.

Registration: Price is $50 with paddling equipment, $20 if you have your own gear. We have a capacity of 15 for this trip, with numbers 11 - 15 needing to take a second shuttle or follow us to the launch and we will take you back after the paddle. Please sign up online, give us a call at 815-636-9066 or stop by the store. https://rocktownadventures.com/events/
