NAMI Northern Illinois Presents NAMI In Our Own Voice

Mental illness is more common than you may think. During this public education presentation, become better informed as you learn and understand what it is like to live with mental illness.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is more commonly known as NAMI. NAMI Northern Illinois is an organization of families, friends, and individuals whose lives have been affected by mental illness. Together we advocate for quality treatment, equity, understanding, and care." NAMI In Our Own Voice unmasks mental illness using speaker stories to illustrate the individual realities of living with mental illness. This presentation strives to change attitudes, preconceived notions, and stereotypes regarding mental illness. Hear from speakers who live a successful life of recovery. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental illness, this presentation is proof that recovery is possible.

There will be two sessions held at East Branch Library (6685 E. State St., Rockford IL 61108). Both sessions are open to the public and free to attend, no registration required.

-Session 1: Saturday, June 10 (11:00AM - 12:00PM)

-Session 2: Wednesday, June 21 (11:00AM - 12:00PM)
