Mildway Village Museum is conveniently located right off of I-90 on Rockford's east side at 6799 Guilford Road. Parking is free.


Ranked by visitors to Northern Illinois as a top attraction, Midway Village Museum is an authentic experience combining history, heritage and the exhibition of artifacts to create an unforgettable, educational visitor experience. Visitors explore life and culture during the late 19th Century in Northern Illinois.


Come enjoy a day exploring the outdoor Victorian Village!

Walking tours last one hour with the last tour beginning at 3 pm.


Midway Village Museum staff and all visitors to the museum campus are required at this time to follow all State of Illinois mandates for social distancing.


If you are a Midway Village Museum Member the tours are free as part of your membership. Please, call ahead to make a reservation so we can accommodate you and your guest(s) by speaking with a Front Desk representative at 815-397-9112.

The Victorian Village is a living history experience representing 1890 – 1910. Visitors engage and immerse themselves in life as it was in the early part of the 1900s during a one-hour walking tour. Costumed history interpreters in period clothing walk you through the 13-acre Victorian Village visiting many of the 26 historic buildings representing life in Northern Illinois. The museum is an authentic experience combining history, heritage and the exhibition of artifacts to create an unforgettable, educational visitor experience. Visitors explore life and culture as it was during the 19th Century.


Open For Tours On Saturday, July 4!

The Victorian Village is also open on Saturday, July 4, for the Fourth of July holiday. Bring your family, but remember to reserve a tour time early!


How To Purchase Tickets

Currently, each tour will consist of 9 visitors and a living history interpreter for safe social distancing practices. The museum transitioned its ticketing for the Victorian Village online this season to move to a cashless transaction for the visitors. Pre-registration is highly recommended.


. To purchase your ticket(s), visit www.midwayvillage.com or call to speak to a Front Desk representative during regular business hours.


. Any visitor without reservations including public guests and museum members should register at the Front Desk with a cashless point of sale system, on a first come, first served basis, with a possibility of a wait until the next hourly tour is available. Tours are at 11 am, Noon, 1 pm, 2 pm and 3 pm. The Victorian Village closes at 4 pm to all visitors.


Following your ticket purchase, museum guests will meet at Gate B. At the beginning of the hour, a history interpreter will greet you.


An Update To COVID-19

At this time, the Main Museum Center exhibits remain temporarily closed to the public. Visitors may enter the Main Museum Center for the Museum Gift Shop and to purchase admission tickets. For other details about COVID-19 and its impact on the museum operations go to the museum's website home page at www.midwayvillage.com. The home page is updated frequently to give you the most recent news on the museum's operations.


Our Clean Hands Open Door Pledge & Social Distancing

The museum is now taking part in a community-wide initiative entitled, "Clean Hands Open Door," and pledges to open safely and responsibly by following seven standards intended to reduce disease transmission and help build consumer confidence as the economy reopens. For complete updates to the museum's operations due to COVID-19, visit the website at www.midwayvillage.com.


Visitors must wear masks and practice social distancing while on the museum grounds. Hand sanitizer will be available for visitors to use. Also, for the safety of everyone, the staff is involved in daily temperature and wellness checks. History interpreter guides are also wearing masks and gloves at this time.

Friday, July 31 -The Victorian Village is closing early on Friday, July 31 for the setup of the museum’s annual fundraiser. The Victorian Village will close at 1 pm. The last tour begins at Noon.
