Discover the importance of the iconic sock monkey to Rockford's industrial past. Learn how a simple sock led to the growth of a city and the creation of a universally recognized symbol. Visitors will sew their own sock monkey with guided instruction, and have the opportunity to attend an hour presentation of the sock monkey doll given by a costumed History Interpreter. Guided tours of the exhibit "The Missing Link: Socks, Monkeys and Rockford's Industrial Past" are part of this special event.


Sock Monkey Making Workshop Schedule:

9am to 11am

11:30am to 1:30pm

2pm to 4pm


*Colors for the sock monkeys other than brown are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis.

Workshop Sessions

Cost: $30 per person, $25 Museum Members (includes one sock monkey making kit, instruction, exhibit tour, presentation)

Workshop Assistant, Exhibit Tour and Presentation

Cost: $10 per adult, $8 per child (5-12) (includes entry to assist in making a sock monkey, exhibit tour, presentation)
