Thanks to our Forward for Fun grant, we are celebrating local manufacturing for Rockford Day this year by hosting another outdoor movie. We will be showing the action-packed film First Man, an Apollo 11 story of the first man on the moon mission. As the Rockford area has a rich history making contributions to many space missions, we thought this would be a great way to celebrate our awesome city and highlight some local manufacturing companies at the same time! Sarah Treadwell, local Astrobiologist, Solar System Ambassador for NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Crew Journalist for the Mars Desert Research Station, plus many other credentials, will be at our event bringing activities and demonstrations for families to learn more about space. She is also bringing several telescopes for viewing Saturn, the Moon and stars after the movie. Collins Aerospace, Forest City Gear and Rockford Area Aerospace Network will have tables at our event as well. Some of the incredible contributions to outerspace include the Mars Perserverance Rover, the International Space Station, many space shuttles, the upcoming Artemis 1 mission on August 29th and even Great Harvest Bread Co. This event is free, but Miracle Mile is requesting a free-will donation at the gate. Funds will help us continue our mission of assisting local small businesses in our district.
