History's Mysteries Mini Camp

Each Tuesday is a new theme!

Tuesday, August 4 . 9:30 am to 11:30 am

Going Green: Learn how your child can be a part of Midway's Green Team by learning about how Victorians recycled in the past and what you can do today.

Cost $10 per child

Parent not required to stay.

Pre-registration is required and the deadline is 4 pm the Sunday prior to the Tuesday program.

This year as an alternative to the week-long History's Mysteries Camp, Midway Village Museum is offering a program in 2020 specifically geared towards grade-school children. Your child will engage in structured fun, and learning in a two-hour experience on Tuesday mornings July and August.

Your child will learn history concepts geared to their age, while also gaining new friends, developing social skills in a new environment, and take home projects to talk about with you to reinforce the concepts learned during the morning.

This will camp will allow your child to gain new confidence for the appreciation of history. The Mini Camp sessions last two hours and meet in the Victorian Village.

Ages requirement:

Kindergarten through Fifth grade

Registration and payment online at https://tinyurl.com/minidaycamp.

FOR YOUR SAFETY: Each program is limited to 10 children. Each program is held outside under a large tent with each child at their own picnic table (children from the same family may share a picnic table). Gloves, hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be provided. Supplies will be prepared ahead of time and handed out to each child in individual packaging by the program leader. Program leaders will undergo daily temperature and health checks, as well as wear a mask.

SPECIAL GROUPS: Groups of 5 or more, contact Caitlin by calling 815-397-9112, ext. 106 or educator@midwayvillage.com about scheduling your own separate program. Special group accommodations are available for each theme after each public program.

You may also register for these other mini camps listed below. Register for each mini camp separately at https://tinyurl.com/minidaycamp.

July 7 Crime Solvers: In this program, children will learn criminal investigation techniques just like a Victorian crime solver.

July 14 Village Artists: Staff will be recreating some famous works of art and also letting imaginations run wild to create great works of art.

July 21 Folklore: Children will come listen, reenact and share traditional Folklore from across the centuries and across the world.

July 28 History Explorers: By looking at different cultures, children will explore far-off places from the safety of our Victorian Village.

August 11 Dirty Jobs: Children will roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty with some of the jobs of the Victorians of the past.

The Mini Camps are sponsored by the Guy B. Reno Family Foundation.
