Fur Traders River Run Paddle Trip with Rocktown Adventures, Saturday, Sept. 11, 10:00 a.m., Follow the path of the early fur traders who used the Rock River as a “commerce highway” to move their wares. Fur Trader Joseph Thibault’s cabin was located near your launch area, and you’ll paddle by the trading post in Macktown (now Rockton, IL), six miles down the Rock River. Enjoy the wooded scenery and wildlife on a leisurely paddle as you follow the Fur Traders route down the Rock River.

Details: This is a 7+ mile guided paddle that traces the route fur traders used back in the day when the Rock River acted like a Commerce Highway. We will meet at Rockton Boat Ramp (behind Hononegah High School) and then shuttle to the launch in downtown Beloit. After some outfitting and basic instruction review, we hit the water for a 2.5 hour paddle. There is a portage required at the Rockton Dam. Easy to navigate.

Location: We will meet at the Rockton Boat Ramp then shuttle to the launch in downtown Beloit.

Price: The price for this experience is $50 and includes kayak, paddle, pfd, guide, shuttle, and a good time. Price is $20 for those that have their own vessel. Trip is limited to 16 participants with a minimum of 4 required to hit the water. If we get more than 10, numbers 11 - 16 will do a reverse shuttle and meet us at the launch in Beloit and then shuttle back after the paddle.
