Evening of Illumination

In the 13-acre Victorian Village on the Midway Village Museum campus, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford


Visitors will experience the darker side of Victorian life in the Victorian Village at night!


• Learn about the history of embalming and the techniques used during the Victorian era.

• Attend a Victorian mummy unwrapping party and learn about Egyptomania.

• Discover the tricks of the trade used to create a seance and convince the living they are being visited by the dead.

• Visit a Victorian wake and learn about mourning customs.

• Hear about the history of the casket and how it developed by the late 19th century.


Check back regularly as the event date nears for up-to-date and complete activities.


Visitors will be divided in groups and guided by lantern light to each station.


Admission:

$12 Adult (17+)

$10 Member Adult (17+)


Pre-registration is required for this special event. Please dress for the weather as this is a rain or shine event – no refunds. Advanced registration is available online at www.midwayvillage.com or you may purchase your admission at the Museum Gift Shop prior to the special event.


Registration deadline is October 29, 2020. Guests will check in at Village Gate B at 6:30 pm. Parking is free.
