Presented by The City of Rockford:

Domingos en el Parque

Karizma One of Michigan’s premier Tejano music bands specializing in La Onda Tejana! Tejano music or Tex-Mex music (Texan-Mexican music) is the name given to various forms of folk and popular music originating among the Mexican-American populations of Central and Southern Texas.

In the 1950s and 1960s, rock and roll and country music made inroads, and electric guitars and drums were added to conjunto combos. Also, performers such as Little Joe added both nuances of jazz and R&B, and a Chicano political consciousness. During the 1970s, the music was known as "La Onda Chicana;" it was later rebranded as "la Onda Tejana" in the late 1980s-90s.

La Vagancia, This 6 member group out of Aurora brings their own style of Norteño and Sierreño music.

Norteño (northern), also called música norteña (northern music), originated in the early 20th century around the Texas-Mexico border and is a genre of Mexican music related to polka, rancheras and corridos. As its names indicates, Norteño is a musical expression from Northern Mexico. The accordion and the bajo sexto are norteño's most characteristic instruments.Sierreño is a genre of mexican music most of the time made up of 3 instruments, and 3 players, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Accordion. Other Sierreño groups can also have 2 Acoustic Guitars,(a Bajo Sexto, and a Bajo Quinto), and either a Tuba or Bass Guitar.

Los Ahijados Del Barranco, Once having debuted at Domingos En El Parque, Los Ahijados del Barranco is now known as one of the top Sierreño style groups in the Rockford/Chicago area. This corrido band based in Rockford formed by cousins Jorge Murillo and Adrian Medrano, originally from El Barranco Zacatecas, has become famous for their unique style in the way they play the Requinto.

Banda Super Ranchera, Originating in the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa, banda music (like norteño and tejano) is not one type of music but incorporates many of the popular Mexican genres. Banda is a term to designate a style of Mexican music and the musical ensemble in which wind instruments, mostly of brass and percussion, are performed.

Banda bands are large, usually consisting of somewhere between 10 - 20 member, with the notable sound of the tambora (a type of sousaphone) serving as the bass note and rhythmic undertone.

DJ Dark will provide music throughout the event.
