Glow in the Garden 2025 lit up the night at Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens on Friday, September 19. The community came together to celebrate the end of summer with an evening full of family fun and glowing memories.From 6 to 9, guests explored free activities throughout the gardens, released colorful lanterns across the lagoon, and cheered on the kids in the 100-meter Fun Run. The evening wrapped up with the glowing 5K Run and Walk, where runners and walkers received t-shirts, Conservatory admission, and beverage tickets as they raced past the Rockmen Guardians.Thank you to everyone who joined us for this beautiful Rockford tradition. Glow in the Garden shined because of everyone who made it out.

Edwards Apple Orchard West in Winnebago, Illinois, has been a Rockford-area fall tradition since 1988. What started with just 34 bushels of apples and a small pumpkin harvest has grown into more than 5,000 apple trees, a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, and 18 crisp apple varieties. Guests return year after year for warm apple cider donuts, fresh-pressed cider, and the simple joy of autumn on the farm.Families can enjoy wagon rides, pony rides, and a children’s play area that includes wooden play structures, corn cribs, and a petting zoo with a goat walk. The historic 1893 dairy barn now serves as the orchard’s store, filled with apples, caramel apples, cider, baked goods, and local gifts.
