Swedes love tulips, and the local tulip cultivation grows each year. In 2017, 151 million tulips were harvested in Sweden, and next year it will be around 160 million. SHS Annual Meeting

The Swedish Historical Society will hold its annual meeting on April 11th at 1:00 p.m. via Zoom. There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.To register, use this link: https://bit.ly/39EFn7jThe meeting link will be emailed to those who are registered. Before the meeting, a program will be sent to the registrants.Once you have registered, you will have the option of adding a coffeecake to enjoy with your fika during the meeting. Coffeecakes be delivered to your home the day before the meeting for a $12 fee. Coffeecakes will come from the Stockholm Inn and choices are: Almond, Cardamom, and 3-in-l. We at Swedish Historical Society are very excited to hostFika with a SwedeWhen: Thursday, April 15thTIME: 8:30 a.m. Rockford time / klockan 15:30 svensk tid.Our fourth fika is with Pascal Tshibanda, Communication Director, City of Katrineholm.The fika is set up as a live interview (moderated by our Swedish Ambassador Linnea Bengtsson).Participants can join by only listening in (camera on or off) and questions can be asked in the chat box or emailed museum@swedishhistorical.orgAfter registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.The "Fika Swede" will share who they are, their work & connection to Rockford and one sentence inSwedishPrev. fika were with Cecilia Widegren, Member of the Swedish Parliament; Joachim Frykberg CEO of JULA; and Jennifer Ottosson General Manager TI Automotive (former GM of LEAX).

Swedish Pancake Days & Membership Drive

When was the last time you had a warm, delicious stack of Swedish pancakes from Stockholm Inn? When was the last time you renewed your membership? Now you can answer both of those questions with our first annual Swedish Pancake Days & Membership Drive!Did you know that your membership to Swedish Historical Society expires on March 31st of each year? We are trying to help you make sure you stay up-to date on your membership and walk away with a full belly too! When you come into Stockholm Inn for a Swedish pancake breakfast, lunch, or dinner (or get Swedish pancakes to go), you will be able to sign up or renew at our membership table that will be setup all weekend.Every person who renews or signs up for a Swedish Historical Society membership over the weekend of March 13th & 14th will be mailed a certificate for a short stack of Swedish pancakes along with their membership card, compliments of the Society.It is free to come in and renew your membership. Stop by from 9:00 AM -2:00 PM if you want to pick up your certificate, otherwise it will be mailed.Please stay an support the Stockholm Inn by eating in or ordering to go!Here are all the ways to renew or start a new membership:1. A membership table will be set up at Stockholm Inn, and it will be manned part of the time. If we’re there, stop by and say hi when you grab a membership brochure, or be sure and ask for one with your pickup/carry out service.2.
