Go on your own tour of duty as a visitor to this new immersive experience depicting 1914-1918. Visitors will be guided in small groups through history displays including authentic and replica vehicles, artifact exhibits, and presentations by more than 100 World War I re-enactors.


The finale to the two-hour tour is a 1/2 hour narrated battle showcasing trench warfare. Visitors must follow social distancing protocols in place at the time of this special event. Everyone visiting the museum campus must wear a mask. Light refreshments and snacks available for purchase.


Re-enactors will provide history-related exhibits and presentations showcasing a variety of aspects of The Great War including these topics:


1918 Flu Pandemic

Suffrage Propaganda Plays

Sgt Stubby the War Dog – Saturday Only

Animals in War/Red Star Animal Veteran Corp – Sunday Only

French Schneider Tank replica

World War I Model Airplane Display

353rd German Infantry Regiment Encampment


Limited reservations are available for this guided tour re-enactment. Member registration begins Monday, March 29


Registration for all begins Monday, April 5. This special event format for 2021 is replacing the annual Great War: World War I at Midway Village.

Desk representative or email store@midwayvillage.com with your name, phone number and ticket quantity. Your admission ticket includes entry into the Main Museum Center exhibit galleries offering more than 15,000 square feet of artifact and stories of the past to also explore.


Important Re-enactment Details:


As this is a timed special event it is important to arrive on time. Wear walking shoes for the tour and dress for the weather. This is a rain or shine event. Parking is free. The museum is taking advance reservation for this timed re-enactment and limited reservations are available.

Parking For Museum Members:


The Main Museum Center parking lot is designated for Museum Members, with Gate B the point of entry and check-in.


Parking for General Public Visitors:


The Rec Path Parking area is a grassy lot adjacent to the Main Museum Center. Visitors will enter off Guilford Road just west of the Midway Village Museum main gate entrance. Look for signs when arriving. General Public Visitors will check-in at the Water Tower gate entrance off the Rec Path.


Bike Racks


There are three bicycle racks on the museum campus as amenities for those riding bicycles to experience the museum’s events, tours and other activities. These bike racks are prominently placed near the Main Museum Center front doors, and the gate entrances to the Victorian Village off the Recreation Path, and near the Old Doll’s House.
