Meet Katie Townsend

New Garden Historian

"I am in my happy place when there is mud on my boots, and I am working with a dedicated team," she said. "This is one reason I am excited to work at Midway Village Museum."

An undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management/ Forestry from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point led Katie into the timberlands of Wisconsin as well as her passion to preserve natural heritage lands. She went on to become an educator, naturalist and program director for various non–profit agencies. Katie built a team of volunteers and staff to assist her in maintaining many gardens while teaching

education programs on a variety of different topics.

Katie will begin to work with the dedicated and hard working Thursday morning garden volunteers at the museum, and she is introducing a new volunteer opportunity on Saturday mornings for individuals wanting to volunteer but may have other commitments on Thursday mornings. The details are below:

New Volunteer Opportunity in the Heritage Gardens

When: May-October

Time: 9 am

Meeting Location: Gate B, near the entrance of the Victorian Village
