OTODECTES CYNOTIS (ear mites)

-A highly contagious surface mite that is found in the ear canals & on the skin surfaces of cats, dogs, rabbits & ferrets.

-Causes ear infections, itchy ears & coffee ground-like dark brown debris

-1-2 treatments of insecticidal product are needed

Additional fun facts:

-Feeds on ear wax & skin oils

-Can live up to 2 months reproducing continuously

-In rare events susceptible people may show signs, but eradication of the mites will cure the problem

-Second most common ectoparasites after fleas
