Virtual Book Discussion: Waking Up White

Virtual Book Discussion: Waking Up White

Co-hosted by RPL & Eliminate Racism 815, part of a new "Introduction to Racism" book discussion series.Waking Up White is the book Irving wishes someone had handed her decades ago. By sharing her sometimes cringe-worthy struggle to understand racism and racial tensions, she offers a fresh perspective on bias, stereotypes, manners, and tolerance. As Irving unpacks her own long-held beliefs about colorblindness, being a good person, and wanting to help people of color, she reveals how each of these well-intentioned mindsets actually perpetuated her ill-conceived ideas about race. This book discussion will be held virtually. You will be emailed a link from WebEx 24 hours before the event. Registration is required. To participate in the 2p discussion click here https://bit.ly/3lXFv5zTo participate in the 6p discussion, click here https://bit.ly/3j42oSQ.
