IT’S TIME FOR A MAKEOVER!

A little history of our farmhouse that’s known today as Meyer’s Canine Colony in Roscoe, Illinois. The farmhouse itself is around 100 years old and once was a grain operation. There was a barn towards the back which the foundation is still there. It has original redwood siding under the paint and historically the farmhouse was white with black shutters... for basically all of its life. When we opened 20 years ago this year ( WOW, time has flown!) often we would hear, “We can’t find you!”

At that time and somewhat still today, there were several white house’s on Main Street so about 10 years ago we made the bold decision to paint it red. Literally as the first coat was going on, cars passing by were beeping and phone calls were coming in giving us a on the color! Now we had made ourselves an easy .

But over time the red paint has faded and left us with a yucky pink farmhouse. Has anyone else worked with reds before?

Anyways, after a few good articles and the staff at the paint store explaining red can be tough, we are going for a NEW LOOK! Benjamin Moore Black Iron for the house, the windows will remain white. Caliente for the trim and door- we both love red so a little will stay. Speaking of doors, did you know Benjamin Moore has a line of paint called Aura Grand Entrance? It’s for durability on doors and trim so we’re going to try it on our entrance door where we greet so many 4 legged’s.
