DID YOU KNOW...
We will be opening up our 2nd location at 8409 N. 2nd St. in Machesney Park on Wednesday, July 1 from 2 pm - 5 pm. *We ask that you please follow the signs so that we do not create a traffic jam or block our neighbors. We will take the same items as we do at the Hydraulic Road location. We will be closed at both locations on July 4.

Wednesdays from 2 pm - 5 pm
Saturdays from 9 am - noon
Hydraulic Road Days/Times
Tuesdays from 2 pm - 5 pm
Saturdays from 9 am - noon

TODAY IS THE DAY! WE ARE OPENING UP THE MACHESNEY PARK LOCATION FROM 2 PM - 5 PM.Please drive by and honk your happiness that we have a 2nd location in the "north" region. We will take the exact same items that we do at the Hydraulic Road location. Please follow the signs so that we can get you in and out without traffic congestion. This location will be open on Wednesdays from 2 pm - 5 pm and Saturdays from 9 am - noon. Please note that we will be closed on July 4 at both locations plus the Household Hazardous Waste site. See you soon!

BIG NEWS!! Our 2nd recycling facility will be opening July 1 at 2:00 pm at 8409 N. Second Street in Machesney Park. We will take the same items that we do at the Hydraulic Road site. The hours will be Wednesdays from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am - noon. (*Note: Both locations as well as the Household Hazardous Waste Site will be closed on July 4.) 🤓

June 14 is Flag Day. Every year there is a special ceremony to properly retire old and tattered American flags in a special burn ceremony at LZ Peace Memorial in Rockford. The ceremony included how to properly fold a flag and what each fold means. They explained each part of the ceremony. Very moving and worth seeing. They retire the current flag being flown there and replace it with a bright, new, red, white and blue one.

This Saturday is Flag Retirement Day. Flag Retirement is the term used to define the proper, dignified way of destroying United States flags that are no longer fit to serve the nation. If you have an old flag that needs to be properly retired, please bring it to KNIB this Saturday and we will take care of it properly.
