In these trying times such as we have never seen before, my heart goes out to you and your family. I know you are doing everything you can to keep them safe and healthy. I think it is extremely important that we keep a positive attitude about the future as we move forward. On behalf of Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful, I would like to personally thank you for your continued support. It is only because of the generosity of concerned citizens like yourself that allow us to continue our work. For 32 years, we have strived to do our part to protect the community and its environment and we will continue to do so. There is strength in numbers. Together the possibilities are endless for a stronger community and a cleaner environment for everyone. Below are just a few examples of how we impact the environment.

 Thousands of pounds of plastics, glass, cardboard and metals are kept out of the landfill and recycled by collecting them twice a week.

 Over 80,000 pounds of clothes were used or recycled into other useful items. We collect clothes twice a week when we are open and have 2 special clothing drives each year. The next clothing drive is May 9, 2020.

 1500 pounds of unused medications were kept out of the water. The Medication Collection is coming up on June 13, 2020. Even though other places are beginning to take unused medication, we are still a valuable resource to keep unused medication out of our water system.

 Great American Cleanup is still set for April 25th. Things change fast, so we will keep everyone updated on Facebook and our website. Last year we had over 2000 volunteers that cleaned Winnebago County after a long cold, icy winter. Everyone will be ready to get out in the fresh air by the end of April. That’s for sure.  Thousands of live phone calls are answered to help people in the community dispose of items properly. This includes hazardous waste.

This year is the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. The Earth cannot say thanks, but we can! We hold an Earth Day Awards Banquet every year. This year it was schedule to be held on April 9, 2020. We postponed it until July 9, 2020. This will be a special Awards Banquet to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth day. Even though it is postponed, its never too early to purchase a seat or a table. It fills up fast. Go to the website or Facebook to register. If you received an invitation for April 9th, you can send the remittance card from that.
